National Authorities & Useful Links - Portugal In Portugal, coordinating bodies with the power to approve fish processors premises depend on the type and location of premises. 1. Premises Type 1, 2 and 3 Premises fulfilling at least one of the following criteria, Mainland Azores Madeira 2. Premises Type 4 Premises satisfying the following criteria, are approved by the Municipalities. 3. Premises Located in Specific Industrial Areas (ALE) Premises located in specific industrial areas (ALE) are approved by the societies responsible for the management of those areas (“Sociedades Gestoras de ALE”), which will be accredited for that competence, regardless the typology of premises. The legislation redefining the competent authorities for approval purposes was put in force very recently, therefore the specific industrial areas (ALE) are not yet established and the corresponding management societies were not constituted so far.
