About This Project
The website www.euseafood.com is a deliverable of the project, "European Seafood Processing Internet Portal - Website: www.euseafood.com", Innovative Actions Grant 02/C 132/11/01 awarded in the last call in the Transnational Fisheries Programme in the Framework of Innovative Actions in Community Structural Assistance in the Fisheries Sector adminstered by DG Fish. The project is seven months duration, having began in January, and finishing in August 2003.

The aims of this pilot pilot project are to:
1. Compile a comprehensive information database detailing certified fish processors and premises for Ireland, Britain, Portugal and Greece.

2. Design and produce a multilingual website of certified European Fish Processors, searchable by location, size and products, providing rapid information.

3. Improve traceability and transparency in the international seafood trade sector.

The site will have complete information on approved (Fish Processing) premises under the 91/492 and 91/493 Directives for Ireland, Britain, Portugal and Greece. The British section of the site will be split up into Northern Ireland, Orkney and Shetland Islands, Scotland, England and Wales, with this part alone, having over 1100 sites uploaded by launch date. A further 400 minimum will be added over the coming months. The end result will be the best and most comprehensive database on the participating countries.

The site will also have separate lists on other processors, traders and brokers who currently do not need to be approved. These lists compliment the approved premises lists and will be added to over the coming months.

The database is searchable by area, company name, approval number, product type and company size. In addition the site will carry in pdf format the EU lists of 3rd countries approved premises. There are about 75 countries covered so far. As the information is limited in these files we have shown full information for Vietnam as an example of what we are aspiring to achieve in the future.

The website will be strengthened by having a small directory/links section on Government Departments, Development Agencies and representative bodies with an interest in the Fish Processing Sector.

Over the coming months the website will be translated into Greek and Portuguese. All queries to enquiries@euseafood.com
